Ralph Smith - 2003 Korean tour information

The following is an email message dated 08/12/03 from Ralph Smith

Here's the latest from California Pacific Tours, Inc. and Roy Montgomery (1-888-822-5258). I will be going on both tours as the Chaplain. The Marines Tour is 8 days and leaves L.A. 13 Sept. It will include a visit to OP Howe (overlooking OP Harry), and I will share my thoughts on July, 1953 when I served there as a 2dLt with C Co., 23rd Inf. Regt., 2ndID.

Between Sept. 20 and Oct. 15, I will conduct Youth Leadership Forums in the four English-speaking high schools, do coffee house ministry at 2ID units, and some USO tours or possible trips to DMZ areas not on the C.P.T. schedules. The 1st Cav./24th Inf. Tour is 15-24 Oct. It includes the Pusan Perimeter and the Chorwon area.

There is space left on both tours. The Marines will have about 20 and the 1stCav./24th Inf. about 25. The Marines tour is $2195 and is due now. the 1st Cav./24th Inf. Tour is $2090 with $395 deposit due now and remainder within last 30 days.
China Extension Tour is optional for $975 - 4 days escorted and China Visa is required.

Blessings, Ch(COL) Ralph L. Smith, Irving, Texas

An earlier email message from Ralph Smith

This is the latest update to p. 5 of the Newsletter since the 3ID Tour won't go.

California Pacific Tours, Inc. has two tours going as of this date. The Marines Tour leaves L.A. on Asiana (OZ203)at 1220 AM on Sat. 13 Sept. and returns at 1130 AM on Sat. 20 Sept. Cost is $2195 payable by 13 Aug. The Marines Tour includes the "Iron Triangle" and hopefully hill 361 overlooking OP Harry. Info. has been requested from the USO and the Defense Mission to see if other areas of the DMZ can be visited in case anyone can remain longer.

The 1st Cav./24th Inf. Div. Tour leaves San Francisco on 15 Oct. and returns 24 Oct. Cost is $2090 - $395 deposit due on registration and remainder by 30 days prior. Passports need to be valid for 6 mos. beyond return date. (China Tour optional for $975 and don't forget China Visa). Domestic air to the west coast can be arranged on your own or C.P.T. can provide you with a quotation.

I'm opting for the Marines tour since it leaves earlier and spends more time on the DMZ. Please get the word out, even if you aren't able to go this year.

Ph. is 1-888-822-5258.
Blessings, "Ranger Ralph"
