NewsFlash #1

April 17, 2010

What is a NewsFlash?

As our 19th Annual Reunion gets closer, it became apparent we needed to have a quick way to communicate breaking news to OPHSA members.  Not all information about schedules and events for our 19th Reunion were available at the time our Survivor newsletter had to go to press.

The NewsFlash is a means to get new and updated information out to members who have an email address listed to fill in the gaps between newsletters. If you know a member who doesn't have email but might be interested in a NewsFlash item, you can give them a call and pass on the information.

This NewsFlash is not a discussion group -- the OPHSA Forum is available for discussions at all times.

This NewsFlash covers scheduled showings for the film Hold at All Costs and Reunion changes that were not available when the last Survivor newsletter was printed.

Currently Scheduled showings of the Film Hold at All Costs

  • The commercial premiere of the film is scheduled for May 31, 2010 at 7:30PM in the Terrace Theater at the John F. Kennedy Theater in Washington DC.
  • Fort Stewart GA has announced a showing of the film Hold at All Costs on June 5th, 2010. Jerry Cunningham is working with Fort Stewart on details and will post them in a NewsFlash when they are available.
  • A special showing of Hold at All Costs for OPHSA members is scheduled in San Diego, CA during our 19th Annual Reunion on Friday June 11, 2010. This special theater showing for OPHSA members to view the film in the company of comrades, family, and friends. This special event is sponsored by OPHSA member Bob Baker on the 60th anniversary of the start of the Korean War.

Although the theater is close by -- within walking distance from the hotel -- Bob Baker is providing transportation to the theater from the hotel.

After the showing of the film, we will be transported back to the hotel to get ready for the Reception Dinner hosted by Bob Baker aboard the San Diego Bay Cruise Ship Hornblower. This luxurious cruise ship is the fully and beautifully restored Presidential Yacht used by President Roosevelt. We will be served dinner aboard the ship while cruising the San Diego Bay --  all while watching the sun set on the Pacific Ocean and San Diego from the Bay. After dinning, dancing, and enjoying the cruise, we will be returned to the hotel.

This will be a reunion to be remembered.

You don't want to miss this one!

Other showings of the film on television and other commercial venues will be posted in a NewsFlash as they become available.

19th Reunion Update

Yesterday Jerry Cunningham got a call from Lt. General William G. Webster's offiice that he had to cancel as our guest speaker due to his Military commitments. Jerry contacted Major General (Ret) Singlaub and asked if he would be our keynote speaker on both Friday and Saturday and MG (Ret) Singlaub agreed to fill in for Lt. General Webster. We look forward to having him as our guest speaker this Reunion.
