Lt. Richards in front of Mess Hall April 1953. Lt. George Richards was K Company Executive Officer when I arrived. He was a Distinguished Military Graduate from Oregon University. George was an excellent soldier in every aspect. The potential of a promising military career ended when he was killed helping hold the company CP on Outpost Harry on the night of June 10 -11, 1953.

Lt. Brock Lippitt joined K Company while on line. He was the second platoon leader until he became the Weapons Platoon leader shortly before we occupied Outpost Harry. Lt. Lippitt led members of his platoon on patrols forward of the MLR in the Happy Valley area. One night Brock and I made a personal inspection of the company listening posts by approaching them from the CCF side of the MLR. The weapons platoon did not occupy Harry.

Lt. Petrie, 1st Platoon Leader in trench behind Outpost Dick. Lt. Petrie Joined K Company while on line. The entire company trench line was dug to a depth of over 6 feet during the months of February and March. Lt. Riley's, 10th Combat Engineer Battalion provide demolitions to remove boulders. Lt. Petrie survived the night of June 10 - 11, on Outpost Harry.

1st Sergeant Kelley, April 1953. First Sergeant Kelley was first sergeant when I arrived in K Company. A company commander could never want a better top noncom than he. He had a special way of greeting all of our replacements. He had combat experience that he quickly imbued in the new men.

Master Sergeant Bunn, company supply sergeant and Corporal Merchant are in front of the company supply tent in the rear area while the company was on line by Outpost Dick.

Sergeant Lee was a KATUSA soldier who has been with the company prior to my arrival. He was the mortar section leader and principle coordinator between the other KATUSA soldiers and me.
