| And another air strike as viewed from the destroyed village. Note spring with the greening grasses and flowering tree planted outside the front door of the destroyed house. | Catching a quick sandwich and conversation in the Company Headquarters bunker. The map on the wall says May, so this picture was probably taken around May 1953. | |
| Another shot made in the bunker. Blue flash bulbs were a scarce item at the PX but I'd managed to score so was able to make some indoor shots. The guy in the middle Lt. Kenneth Reimer, was my replacement so I could rotate home <more> | Our medical team. Dr.Roberto Fortuño, the 3rd Bn surgeon, is on the left and Lt Rogers is the MSC officer standing next to him. I'd stop by their office to share some medicine (an empty shown with candle stopper) with them and talk. Nice people. | |
| A wounded man is carried by stretcher to a helicopter waiting at right after emergency care had been given by our local medical team. | The wounded men are carried on their stretchers to pods on each side of the helicopter. They were on their way to the local field hospital (MASH, if you wish) and might continue back to bigger, better-equipped hospitals in Japan if their wounds required advanced treatment. | |
