I've not made any special effort to make this scrapbook into a paean to
the glories of military life, or to support politician's claims of
glory on behalf of those who died because of those politician's schemes and
ambitions.
These web pages are a scrapbook of one person's experiences and
observations during that time. No big picture. There are many other web sites that do a very good job
of "Looking at
the Big Picture" and "Putting the Korean War into
Perspective." Some of
these sites are included in the
Links page.
The Korean War itself was and remains in my
memory an ugly, vicious, event reflecting some of the worst aspects of
humanity while, at the same time, often reflecting
some of the best and brightest aspects of humanity.
In my memory are those who died in a strange place, far from home, leaving behind
children, wives, parents, and friends to grieve. I
wish all of you well. On both sides of the MLR.
