The OPHSA 23rd Annual Reunion, 2014

Members and guests attended the 23rd annual reunion of the Outpost Harry Survivors Association held from June 12th through June 14th at the Holiday Inn Oklahoma City hotel.  Many arrived before the reunion, and stayed afterward making sightseeing trips in the Okalahoma City area.

Wednesday - Early arrivals, June 11th, 2014

River Boat Trip The early arrivals had time to explore Oklahoma City. The Hotel was located on the Oklahoma River and there was a paved trail that followed along the bank of the river. A short walk down the trail from the hotel was the dock that the river boat docked. Some of the early arrivals walked down to the river and found that the locks on the river between the boat's dock malfunctioned. Later Rhonda and a small group did get to ride the river boat -- and Rhonda, a licensed pilot, got to drive it.

Seventeen members and their families attended this reunion.

Thursday - June 12th, 2014

Free Time -- Following individual registrations and check-in, members socialised in the hospitality room , the lobby, and hallways.

Friday - June 13th, 2014

Friday morning the group visited the Cowboy's Hall of Fame museum. It was both a surprise and delight as the museum was an equal to any that we saw during our trip last year to Washington D.C. We were on an open schedule so we all were allowed the time to view the museum.

We had a buffet lunch at the museum, then visited the site of the bombing of the Oklahoma Federal building by an American terrorist. Again this was an extrodinary experience similar to visiting the site of the terrorist's attack on New York's Twin Towers.

The afternoon and evening were spent viewing the videos of the complete interviews made for the Hold at All Cost documentary.

Saturday - June 14, 2014

Memorial Service -- This year during this reunion the special memorial service was held honoring our fallen comrades.

Business Meeting -- Following the Memorial Service, President Jim Hafer conducted the membership meeting. Following the invocation, the prior minutes and financial reports given by Secretary Treasurer E. Douglas Jones. The association was shown to be liquid and were approved. The usual business matters were quickly covered.

There followed a discussion of the Oupost Harry Association's future. For details of the discussion and the resulting decisions, refer to the June issue of the Outpost Harry Association's Survivor newsletter.

Free Time -- During the afternoon free time, the members returned to the hospitality room and continued to view the member's interviews.

Banquet -- Saturday night banquet

Sunday Morning - June 15, 2014

Farewell Breakfast -- An informal Sunday-morning breakfast concluded this reunion.
