The OPHSA 12th Annual Reunion, 2003

One hundred forty-four members and guests attended the 12^th annual reunion of the Outpost Harry Survivors Association held from June 12 through June 15, 2003 at the Holiday Inn Express near Savannah Georgia. Many arrived before the reunion, and stayed afterward making sightseeing trips.

Thursday night

• Welcome Reception -- Following individual registration in the hospitality room, a "Welcome Reception" was held for attendees. The Association provided complimentary buffet and drinks.

• Visit to the NCO Academy at Fort Stewart -- This visit gave us an inside look at one of the new army's leadership training and selection programs for its NCOs.
• Visit to the motor pool at Fort Stewart -- We had a chance to look, up close and personal, at the vehicles used by the Mechanized Infantry in today's Army.
• Sam Buck's Silver Star Presentation -- Sam Buck was presented with the Silver Star for his actions on Outpost Harry in 1953.

• Memorial Service -- Each year during the reunion a special memorial service is held honoring fallen comrades.
• Membership Meeting -- President F. Walden Storie conducted the membership meeting. Following the invocation given by Chaplain Ed Hanrahan, the prior minutes reported by Secretary E. Douglas Jones and Treasurer G. Samuel Buck's financial report showing the association to be liquid were approved. The usual business matters were quickly covered and the election of officers was conducted: Francis X. Riley was elected President and Floyd Deiwert, Jr. was elected Vice President.
• Banquet -- The day ends with a banquet and an awards ceremony.

Sunday Morning

• Farewell Breakfast -- A Farewell Breakfast concluded the reunion with plans announced for the 2004 reunion to be held at San Diego, California.
